PLACER HIGH LEOS CLUB COLLECTS FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY.

Thanks to the support of generous neighbors in the Falcons Point area, the Placer High Leo Club recently collected over fifty bags of food for the Auburn Interfaith Food Closet.  The Leo Club, founded over ten years ago by the Auburn Host Lions Club, helps direct youth toward community service.  Like the Lions, the Leos serve by scheduling charitable projects throughout the year.  Each fall and spring, they conduct a food drive and deliver the proceeds to the food closet.  President Logan Thomsen, a sophomore, said the spring drive is particularly important because food closet inventories always drop off in March and April.  Now that the fall drive is finished, the club is filling Christmas stockings for the Battered Women and Children’s Shelter using club member donations and money they earned this year at a car wash.

Members of the club in the photo are, from left to right, Vice President Johnny Foley, Santa Hart, Rachael Church, Marline Alonso, Alex Garner, and President Logan Thomsen. Leos Jules Faulkner and Cameron Ederer, though not shown, also assisted with distributing bags for the food drive.
